Qatar has started manufacturing 6 new gas transport ships in South Korea, reflecting its strategic expansion in the energy transport sector.

According to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on Sunday, Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat) announced that it has begun manufacturing the six new ships at the shipyard of Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in South Korea.

This took place during a ceremony at the shipbuilding site, attended by officials from both Nakilat and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

The company began the production of two advanced LNG carriers, each with a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters, and four new LPG carriers for ammonia gas, each with a capacity of 88,000 cubic meters. These vessels are expected to be delivered between 2026 and 2027.

Abdullah Al-Sulaiti, CEO of Nakilat, stated that "this achievement confirms Nakilat's commitment to expanding its global fleet and enhancing Qatar's leadership in global gas supplies."

He added, "The investment in these modern vessels reflects our continuous focus on operational excellence, sustainability, and adopting the latest maritime technologies to provide innovative and flexible maritime transport services that meet the growing needs in the global energy shipping sector."

This step is part of Nakilat's strategic expansion, reinforcing its commitment to meet the increasing demand for safe and efficient gas transportation.

The new ships feature advanced propulsion systems and fuel-efficient technologies, aligning with the company's commitment to environmentally-friendly shipping solutions.

Nakilat is dedicated to playing a key role in transporting LNG and LPG by integrating the latest technologies in energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, contributing to the advancement of the energy sector while adhering to the highest safety, reliability, and environmental responsibility standards.
