Oman's Minister of Labor, Mahad bin Said Ba'awain, said on Monday that the ministry aims to provide 45,000 job opportunities as part of its operational plan for 2025.

This includes, according to statements made by the minister at the ministry's annual press conference, providing 11,000 training and qualification opportunities for job seekers, nearly 10,000 job opportunities in the government sector, and 24,000 job opportunities in the private sector.

Ba'awain emphasized that the Ministry of Labor places great importance on training programs linked to employment, on-the-job training, and wage support, according to the Oman News Agency.

He noted that the total number of jobs created in 2024 reached 36,615, exceeding the target of 35,000 job opportunities by more than 104%.

The Minister of Labor pointed out that the number of active beneficiaries of the job security benefit by the end of 2024 was around 17,215, including 11,758 males.

He explained that the National Employment Program helped localize 2,800 leadership and mid-level positions in industrial cities in collaboration with the Public Authority for Industrial Estates "Madayn."

Ba'awain stated that the ministry continues to adopt the best global practices in digital transformation, noting that these efforts "will contribute to enhancing the efficiency of government work, improving employee experience, and ensuring the integration of operational policies between the public and private sectors."

He also indicated that the number of foreign workers in the private sector exceeded two million expatriates, while the number of Omanis was 265,000 employees.

It is worth mentioning that the number of Omani workers in both the public and private sectors reached 851,983 by the end of August 2024, according to statistics from the National Center for Statistics and Information.
