Emirati Investment is the Largest in the Cryptocurrency Sector
Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency trading platform, announced on Thursday that MGX, an Emirati company, has invested $2 billion in the cryptocurrency sector in the United States.
According to the platform, this is the largest investment of its kind in the cryptocurrency sector and marks the first institutional investment transaction in Binance’s history. This is a significant step in enhancing digital assets and solidifying the role of blockchain technology.
With this investment, the Emirati company, which operates in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, is entering the cryptocurrency sector for the first time by acquiring a minority stake in Binance.
Through this investment, MGX aims to drive innovation in emerging technologies, including AI and digital economies.
Binance, on its part, seeks to strengthen its presence in the UAE, given that it is one of the most secure, regulated, and reliable platforms globally, with over 260 million registered users and a cumulative trading volume surpassing $100 trillion.
Bloomberg reported that MGX is expanding its operations in the United States by hiring prominent executives from companies like Apollo Global Management and Warburg Pincus.
The Emirati company, a leader in AI and technology, has appointed Andy Bickens as General Manager and Head of AI Products in New York. Additionally, David Mamigonian was appointed Chief Information Security Officer, coming from Warburg Pincus, and Emilio Mina Jr. was named General Counsel, coming from Wafra.
According to Bloomberg, MGX enjoys support from Mubadala Investment Fund and G42, an AI company, and has attracted experienced executives in digital infrastructure and private equity investment over the past six months.
MGX also contributes to the investment announced by U.S. President Donald Trump earlier this year, worth tens of billions of dollars.
The Emirati company aims to increase its assets to $100 billion and has become a key player in the UAE’s strategy for leadership in artificial intelligence, under the supervision of Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE National Security Advisor.
