Saudi Aramco’s CEO, Amin Nasser, has called for a new global energy model based on three key pillars to ensure a balanced and sustainable response to growing energy demand.

Speaking at the CERAWeek 2025 conference in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday, Nasser criticized the current energy strategy, stating that it has "proven to be a failure, focusing solely on renewable and alternative energy growth while unfairly legislating against traditional energy."

He warned that continuing with the current plan would require an additional annual investment of $6 to $8 trillion, cautioning that "failing to change course could lead to a fast track toward a bleak future."

Three Pillars of the Global Energy Model:

  1. A balanced and integrated approach

    • All energy sources should play a role in meeting rising demand, with new and alternative energy sources complementing, rather than replacing, traditional energy.
  2. Consideration for both developed and developing nations

    • The new model must ensure that technological advancements address the needs of all countries fairly.
  3. Reducing emissions without compromising energy security and affordability

    • Nasser emphasized that lowering emissions should remain a priority, but not at the expense of energy security or cost-effectiveness. He highlighted the role of AI and advanced technologies in achieving these goals efficiently.

Previously, Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman stated in January 2025 that Aramco has unlimited potential as long as it continues making sound economic decisions.

Aramco is currently leading Saudi Arabia’s efforts to become a global gas production powerhouse, exploring new domestic gas fields while expanding international investments. The company has broadened its portfolio in Asia and the U.S. and entered various tech-driven ventures.
