Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) flows in Oman have increased by 17.6% over the past five years, with cumulative investments reaching 26.677 billion Omani Rials ($69.29 billion) as of the third quarter of 2024.
According to statistics from the National Centre for Statistics and Information in Oman, the UK leads the list of investing countries, with investments totaling 13.66 billion Omani Rials ($35.4 billion) as of the third quarter of 2024.
Oman's Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, Qais Al Yousef, confirmed that "government initiatives to develop the investment environment have contributed to these results," emphasizing the importance of establishing an Investment Court to ensure a stable legal environment.
He added that "the steps taken towards completing the establishment of the Investment and Commercial Court reflect the government's commitment to providing a stable legal environment that encourages foreign investments."
Al Yousef also noted that "the ministry is committed to providing the necessary facilitation and competitive incentives to make it easier for investors to conduct business in a dynamic environment."
Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, Ibtisam Al Faroojiyah, highlighted that "these statistics show that the manufacturing sector has attracted foreign direct investment worth 2.13 billion Omani Rials ($5.53 billion)."
She further noted that the ministry had promoted Oman internationally through 21 events last year, received delegations from 23 countries, organized 8 local promotional events, and targeted 6 G20 countries and 4 markets in collaboration with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The CEO of "Invest in Oman," Nasser Al Kindi, mentioned that the number of investment projects being processed has reached 59, with a value of 3.2 billion Omani Rials ($8.3 billion), including 29 projects worth 1.2 billion Omani Rials ($3.11 billion) that have been localized.
Oman has become an increasingly active investment destination in the Middle East in recent years, driven by its qualified human resources capable of keeping pace with challenges and developments in various fields, as well as a modern infrastructure network and significant progress in the field of information and communications technology.
