Shell Oman has launched the first green hydrogen refueling station for vehicles in the Sultanate of Oman on Monday.

According to Oman News Agency, the station is located near Muscat International Airport, with a production capacity of up to 130 kilograms of hydrogen fuel daily.

The station provides comprehensive services, including fast-charging units for electric vehicles and traditional fuel refilling options.

The green hydrogen station is set to contribute to the Sultanate's sustainable efforts aimed at achieving clean mobility and improving the environment in the country, especially as the Gulf state is aiming for carbon neutrality by mid-century.

The first green hydrogen station in Oman has several advantages. It operates using electricity generated from solar power with a capacity of 120 kilovolts and will have 5 fast-charging points for electric vehicles. Additionally, it will reduce emissions by 99% with a steam recovery system.

Furthermore, the station will be able to produce up to 130 kilograms of green hydrogen daily.

The establishment of Oman's first green hydrogen station is part of the country's efforts to localize the promising green fuel industry, as the Sultanate aims to secure new deals with global companies to lead this market in the future.
