Qatar Signs a Five-Year Agreement with Scale AI to Enhance Government Services Using Artificial Intelligence

The Qatari government has signed a five-year agreement with Scale AI to adopt AI-powered tools in an effort to improve public services in the Gulf state.

The signing took place on the sidelines of the Web Summit Qatar 2025, which kicked off on Sunday. Trevor Thompson, Global Head of Growth at the San Francisco-based company, stated that "this deal could serve as a model for other governments worldwide," according to the Qatar News Agency (QNA).

In a statement, Qatar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology highlighted that the partnership will allow government entities to leverage advanced AI technologies.

The initiative aims to support predictive analytics, automation, and advanced data analysis, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency, driving economic growth, and developing workforce skills.

The ministry also revealed that Scale AI will develop over 50 potential AI use cases for the Qatari government over the next five years.

Qatar is racing to establish itself as a leader in artificial intelligence amid growing competition from neighboring Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Founded in 2016, Scale AI specializes in providing highly accurate, labeled data to train AI models such as ChatGPT by OpenAI.

The company assists clients in creating and refining datasets and serves tech giants like Microsoft, Wall Street’s Morgan Stanley, and AI firms such as OpenAI and Cohere.

Scale AI employs 900 staff members, has secured $1.35 billion in investments, and delivers comprehensive data-centric solutions for managing the full lifecycle of machine learning applications.
