Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced the selection of six leading global venture capital firms to establish their regional operations in Doha. This move aims to strengthen Qatar’s position as a hub for innovation and technological investment.
In a post on the "X" platform on Monday, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman emphasized that these institutions will serve as a key driver for innovation and entrepreneurship in the region, reflecting Qatar’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment and supporting startups.
Qatar continues its efforts to attract global companies and encourage them to establish regional branches in the country while enhancing collaboration with local universities. This strategy aims to create a conducive ecosystem for technological projects and digital economy investments.
The announcement coincides with the launch of the second edition of the Web Summit 2025, the largest technology event in the Middle East and North Africa. The summit brings together more than 25,000 technology and business leaders, along with 600 global investors and 1,500 startups from 90 countries.
Doha is hosting the summit at the Exhibition and Convention Center from February 23 to 26, with broad participation from key figures in the technology sector, startups, and specialized media outlets. This reinforces Qatar’s role as a leading hub for technological investments in the region.
